The Challenge

Platinum Healthcare selected Archimedes Services to design and develop their 'fleet management' Platinum Roster App, in order to automate and streamline their day to day operations managing care workers, shifts, and visit sessions.

 

The Solution

 

Platinum Roster is a client/server solution, offering mobile rostering capabilities and providing employers with real time monitoring of staff. The client consists of an Android app, that can be used by care workers to view their rosters, receive new updates, messaging, navigate to work sites, and learn more about their clients and procedures by referencing the built-in multimedia knowledgebase. One of the major challenges was the integration of the system with their current third party rostering database, called StaffPlan roster. There was no documentation available, and the database queries/schema had to be reverse engineered using data sniffing tools. The application utilises the gps capabilities of the phone to send the exact location of the care woker to the backend server. The admins can monitor staff in realtime on the map view, inform clients of delays, send broadcasts, create new dynamic forms right on the device and publish to staff. The system generates automatic analysis reports similar to google analytics and has punctuality monitoring features.

 

The Result

 

Using the new system in place, Platinum Healthcare managed to improve the efficiency of their work force. The system allowed the management to monitor Key performance indicators like punctuality and care being provided. The system also helped them to avoid unnecessary overheads by saving on fuel costs by tracking the routes the care workers were taking to get to their clients' locations, and to avoid delays in anticipation of adverse traffic conditions; this coupled with the various analytics allowed them to plan optimised routes based on service concentrations on the map.
